The CAP program subscribes to the same policies concerning acceptable Internet use as the Middlsex County
Library system. The main policy is as follows:
Middlesex County Acceptable Internet Use Policy
Middlesex County Library is pleased to provide Internet Access, which enables
the library to connect electronically to ideas, information, and commentary
from around the globe.
The Internet is an unregulated, world wide environment. It contains information
and opinions that range in scope from reliable and authoritative to controversial or
offensive. Users should assess the validaty of all information found.
Middlesex County Library assumes responsibility for information contained only in the
library homepage and related pages. Staff may choose to link sites that fall within the
guidelines of the Library's Collection Department Policy and the Library's mission statement.
Beyond this, the library does not monitor or control any of the information available on the
Internet.
Children are entitled to access all information and facilities in the library. Children's
access to the Internet and other electronic networks is the responsibility of parents and
gaurdians.
Library Public Internet work stations do not offer newsgroups, Telnet, or File Transfer
Protocol. Users who attempt to use library work stations for unlawful purposes or to install,
modify or delete software will have their library privileges revoked and may be prosecuted.
Demand may necessitate placing time limits on public Internet use. Such information will
be posted in the Library.
Certain copying or distribution of materials found on the Internet may infringe on the
copyright laws of Canada. Middlesex County Library is not responsible for such infringements.
Users may download to disk.
Users may print up to 10 pages with additional pages costing $0.10 each.
