Up Middlesex:
Bringing broadband access to Middlesex County |
| |
Middlesex County Library submitted an
unsuccessful application to Industry Canada in
November 2003 for implementation funding under
the federal Broadband program “BRAND”. The
application proposed the implementation of 8
points of presence or hot spots to ensure that
all residents of Middlesex County would have
access to broadband services through private
sector vendors who would utilize the hot spots
to service the surrounding area. We are still
working towards our goal of achieving ubiquitous
affordable access for all county residents and
businesses. We do this by working with vendors
to ensure that every opportunity for expanding
broadband services or options for County
residents, businesses and institutions is
encouraged and facilitated. Good news stories
such as the expansion of DSL service within
Middlesex County and more wireless options
continue to emerge.
