The Housing Access Centre offers the following services:
  • Information on social housing options
  • Applications for social housing programs in London and Middlesex County
Social Housing
Social Housing providers are located throughout London and Middlesex. Each program offers different housing alternatives.
Individuals can be considered for the following social housing programs:
  • Non-profit housing program
  • Co-operative housing program
  • Rent supplement program
  • Public housing program

Non-profit and co-operative housing providers have market rent units within their communities and buildings. Housing providers must be contacted directly for market rent units.
Non-Profit Housing Program
Originating in the late 1960s the non-profit program places an emphasis on income integrated communities. Non-profits in Ontario are owned by either municipal or private not-for-profit community based corporations.  A volunteer board of directors is responsible for the non-profit's direction.  The non-profit program offer rent-geared to income assistance and market rent units.
Co-operative Housing Program
Co-operative living is a 'lifestyle' of people joining together to provide themselves with non-profit housing they can afford.  Members make decisions about policies, procedures, expenses, housing charges and co-op management.  Each member has a vote and must participate in the ongoing operation of the co-operative.  The co-operative offers rent-geared-to-income assistance and market rent units.
Rent Supplement  Program
The rent supplement program is administered by the London & Middlesex Housing Corporation. Through agreements with private landlords, the Housing Corporation can offer individuals rent-geared-to-income. Tenants pay their portion of rent to the landlord and the Housing Corporation pays the landlord the difference between the tenant's portion of the rent and the landlords market rent.
Public Housing Program
The London & Middlesex Housing Corporation offers rent-geared-to-income assistance to families, seniors, singles and couples.
The rent-geared-to-income program also exists within co-operative and non-profit housing programs.
Rent Geared to Income Assistance Program
